Green Building

It's easy to build green

Whether you are planning new construction or renovating an existing structure, the green building exhibitors at the Great Peninsula Future Festival can give you tips to help you select materials and methods of construction that promote a sustainable future and give you a darn nice living space to boot.  3221182673_41a849866a.jpg
With over fifty-percent of homes in the United States built before 1970, there are some great opportunities for each of us to take advantage of today’s technologies to make older homes more energy efficient, more comfortable, and economical. At the Festival, you will have the opportunity to talk with experts about such things as installing solar panels,   insulation, weather stripping and energy efficient appliances. You can learn how to capture rainwater for gardens and for supplementing existing water systems. If you are thinking about new construction, you will learn how to create a partnership with the sun, wind, rain, and landscape that will result in your ability to build a home that is warm and dry and won’t break the bank or wear down the Earth’s resources to maintain. Through demonstrations, presentations, and conversations you will be given the tools to make educated decisions on such things as measuring home_builders.jpgyour solar index and maximizing rainwater capture.  You will also learn about federal, state, and local tax credits that will be available to those who take advantage of green building methods, Thisgreen_building.jpg means dollars in your pocket. You are going to learn how to do the right thing and make it pay for itself. Ignore Kermit—it’s getting easier and easier to be green.
