Building a Sustainable Future - Together
July 31st, August 1st 2010
Kitsap Fairgrounds, Silverdale WA

Dear Vendors:
We invite you to participate in the 2010 Great Peninsula Future Festival. We are making some major changes, starting with the location for this year’s event. Port Gamble was a stunning location but also had some challenges. The Kitsap Fairgrounds offers us great on site parking, Kitsap County bus service, and a more centralized location. It is also closer to the population centers. There is a grassy wooded area behind the Sun Pavilion to use for the event. This location will give us the boost we need to attract a bigger audience and grow the festival.

We have a new web site that is fresh and easy to use so look it over. New Old Time Chautauqua will be back with even more world class vaudeville, aerialists, magic, music and lots of kid’s activities and daily parades. The arts and crafts market will have a separate identity this year with food and entertainment to make this area lively and fun. Keep an eye out as we work on an evening concert to raise awareness of the festival and to increase attendance.

Last year we made sustainability interesting, fun, interactive and cool is spite of the record heat wave. We were able to educate the public about how to preserve our communities. We had over 110 booths with two major stages and lots of entertainment spaced throughout the festival. The well attended Black Bear Conversation Café and workshops successfully provided information about Puget Sound, green building techniques, water conservation, solar and wind power projects.

This year we will do more workshops and presentations to engage the community in an interactive, personal and up close way and add interactive exhibits on transportation and energy. People will leave with skills to green their homes, support local community businesses, address regional transportation issues, support local agriculture and support the growing involvement of community organizations in conservation, environmental clean-up and energy alternatives. We are committed to building an annual event that focuses on the issues of livability and sustainability in our communities and to supporting year round educational activities.

The other Washington wants to invest in the green economy as part of the economic recovery plan. The Great Peninsula Future Festival supports that effort. Our mission is to educate the public about the many faces of sustainability in an atmosphere that makes it fun to be alive. This is the future. We are proud to be part of the solution.
